Plex
Description
Plex is a mediacenter for Mac OSX. This is a Fork from XBMC : a multi plateform mediacenter. They are both open source and are leading the mediacenter softwares.
Currently, the most part of my contributions concerns Pex. I’m realy seduce by this project, by its integration with the Mac environment and by the disponibility of its community.
If you don’t know yet Plex, you can watch the screenshots bellow.
Scrapers
A scraper is a Plex’s module (or XBMC) allowing to add automatically to your movies a summary, the actors list, a thumb (DVD cover or movie poster) and fan-arts (image extracted from the movie to be displayed in background). With this data, your movies are displayed in the Library mode where you can sort them by date, title, actors or genre.
For French movies there are mainly one scraper : Ciné-passion. It was created by the website passion-xbmc.org community by taking summary from Allociné and by adding good quality thumbs, fan-arts and actors. Images are fetched on others English speaking website. If you want a good looking Library you should use this one. It will be packaged in the next release of Plex and XBMC. If you have questions, please go to the passion-xbmc.org dedicated page. You can update the database used by Ciné-passion with an online GUI on this web site to correct information or suggest new pictures.

Plugins development
Plugins are add-on for Plex. They allow to give access to plenty of medias thru the Plex interface. Most of them allow to fetch online content like Youtube, Picasa Web, Flickr, etc… It’s amazing how it’s easy to create plugin if you have short knowledge in python.
